Hoping for Forever Homes

This list will grow over time, so please be sure to scroll through the entire list to see the latest dogs - we'll be listing the ones who've been on this list the longest at the top, so newer dogs will be at the bottom. You may also want to check out our HAPPY ENDINGS at the very bottom of this page - where we post information on the dogs who've found loving homes.

Please help us move ALL of these dogs to the list that have found forever homes! Thank you!

Hope is young Pit Bull who came to us after being hit by a car in Harrisburg City. One of her rear legs was degloved and she required surgery and care. Hope is house-trained and has benefited from guidance and patience.  Hope has certainly had a rough start in life and at such a young age - but she is clearly ready to be in her forever home and is seeking a family who will offer her a lifelong commitment in exchange for loads of love, kisses, laughs, and friendship.
Hope loves people, kids, and now we are happy to report, other dogs - though she is still not a cat fan. She is in a training/boarding kennel and is receiving the best possible training with Patrick Duff. You can follow her progress on their Facebook page by clicking here.

Charlie is a distinguished gentleman who has had a less than dignified year. He was found as a stray last winter and was none too pleased with that situation. He was relieved to find the warmth of a foster home, but not as thrilled to head off to HOPE school. But, after just a week or so of living with his new friends and teachers, we began to see a whole new Charlie. The sad, scared dog was slowly disappearing and being replaced by a wagging tail and a little boy who was eager to accept petting, snuggling and lots of attention. He's a confident, brave little man now who is ready for the next chapter of his life to get started right away.

Madison is an absolutely stunning girl and is very sweet with people. She is not very sure of dogs and at this time it is believed that she would prefer to be an only dog. She is currently in a boarding situation and is awaiting entry into the HOPE program where she will work on basic skills, her ability to interact with other dogs, and address any other issues that she may have.

At the kennel staff there report that she loves belly rubs, loves playing outside, and interacting with people. She has received vet care and is up to date on her shots and spayed.

Sparkey is an approximately 8 year old beagle mix who is very young at heart. He currently weighs 42 pounds and is working on losing a few pounds. He loves going for walks, runs in spurts, and is very energetic. He has a slight limp but that doesn't slow him down. He enjoys the things that typical beagles enjoy - walks, sniffing and treats. He also loves cuddling! Whether you are sitting or standing, Sparkey will cuddle against your legs. He loves being petted. He's a spunky, loving dog who is looking for someone to give him a second chance at a loving home. Sparkey is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and up to date with preventatives.

Michelle's story is about hope, and finding the silver lining within every cloud. She still needs our help, and we can if we set our minds to it!

Michelle is an approximately 4-year old American Staffordshire terrier who was saved from a horrific situation. Michelle is one of the "Pit 6" that was saved from a dog fighting ring in Baltimore.

Although we do not believe she was used for fighting, it appears she was instead used for repeated breeding.

Because of Michelle's background and history, we do require she be placed in a home where she is the only dog, but a sweet girl like this deserves to be in a home where she is the center of attention.

Hi my name is Oscar, and I’m a one-to-two year old, male, American Pit Bull Terrier mix. I’m around 65 lbs, microchipped, neutered and up to date on all my shots. I had a rough time before being rescued. I was found chained to a dumpster in Harrisburg City, abandoned!

I’m currently making my home with a foster family but I’d really like a home of my own. I’m super well behaved in the house! We’ve had no problems with chewing, bad behaviors and I’m even OK with being crated if you need to leave the house. You will definitely need some experience with strong dogs when it comes time for us to go for a walk, though as I do pull on my leash and I’m a strong, compact boy. Because I’m a strong and high energy boy a fenced-in yard would really be great…especially since I love to play and run! I seem to get along really well with female dogs (yep, I’m a ladies man!) but I definitely do not seem to like other male dogs.

Diamond was rescued August 2, 2013. Her owners were evicted and moved out, leaving her locked in the apartment.

She is light brown with dappling in her coat with golden eyes and pink nose. She is a estimated to be 7-12 months in age and currently weighs approximately 62 lbs.

Diamond is playful with an abundance of energy. Her play is enthusiastic but she will redirect to calm down. She also enjoys games of tug-of-war. Diamond walks well on the leash but has a tendency to be a helper as she likes to take the leash in her mouth when she walks.  She gets along well with the cats and female shepherd in her foster home.

Diamond needs a loving home that can provide her with outlets for her energy.

Lillie was found wandering the streets with a severely prolapsed uterus on a very cold January night. Luckily, a good samaritan found her and made the late night call that saved her life. Lillie has now healed and is looking for her forever home.

Lillie is about a year old and is on the smaller side, weighing in at just over 40 pounds. She is as sweet as can be. She has the most incredible ears and the cutest play bow. Lillie is a happy go lucky girl and she will make a great addition to any family willing to give her a lifetime of love.

Clementine is a 3.5 year old, 47 pound, pit bull/boxer mix. She's very sweet and loving. She gets along with most dogs especially male dogs, but does not like cats. Clementine is an active dog and loves to be with people. She's good with kids, and knows the "Sit" and "Paw" commands. She loves to cuddle and sleeps in bed with her foster mom and other dogs. Clementine is housebroken and walks well on a leash. She's very eager to please and takes treats gently. Clementine doesn't mind getting her nails trimmed and sits patiently in the tub for baths. Her temperament is truly fantastic! Clementine is fully vetted and can't wait to find her forever home.

For the first six years of her life, Queen was surrounded by a family who loved her. Now this sweet and beautiful American Staffordshire Terrier is in need of a new home due to changing circumstances for her owner.

Queen has been around children for much of her life and is very gentle with them. She has been fearful of some men, but she is more than happy to greet the majority of people she meets whether man or woman, young or old. Queen loves to go for walks and car rides. She tends to destroy toys, so bones are the best option for her. And like most pitties, she LOVES to cuddle.

Queen has been spayed, she's housebroken, and up-to-date on her shots. She gets along with some other dogs, but not all, so introductions would be necessary to determine if she would be a good fit in a home with other dogs. She has not been around cats. Queen knows basic commands but additional training and lots of exercise would help her be the best dog she can be.

Meet Archer! This handsome boy is just two years old and wants nothing more than to find that special someone to share the rest of his life. Here are a few of Archer’s “likes:” Belly rubs, sloppy kisses, snuggling, car rides, toys (especially balls and squeakies), Nylabones and last but not least…cheeseburgers! Archer is currently in a kennel, but a guardian angel is working with him on commands, including heel, sit, stay and come which he has already mastered, and now he’s working on “down” and “shake.” He is very treat-motivated, so that makes him an ideal student. Archer is a good boy who loves people but is selective about other dogs. He has not been cat tested. A foster or forever home is needed to help give this gorgeous boy the life he deserves. He has so much love to give!

Jen had a broken leg when she was picked up as a stray. She underwent surgery and was on crate rest for 6 weeks. During that time, she was a patient girl who only wanted to be loved and near you. She's good with older children, dogs, and really enjoys playing.

Her leg is healed and she is ready for her forever home. She now runs like the wind in the yard and comes when called with a smile on her face. Being near you is her heart's desire. She's a very loving, sweet girl. Jen is a sheltie mix and she's about 1.5 years old.

She is spayed, up to date on shots, crate trained, housebroken, and microchipped. She weighs about 30 pounds. A fenced in yard is required to adopt Jen.
