Uno - The Virtual Dog!
This is Uno, and she's here to tell you how one person – you! – can make a difference in the life of a rescued dog…what we at CPAA like to call "the power of one."
"Woof! I'm Uno, and I'm so happy to meet you. I've lived the lives of many rescued dogs, and the stories I'm about to tell are their stories. By sharing them, I'm hoping you'll see how much we pups need your help. It only takes one person to make a difference in the life of a dog like me. Will you be that person? "

Meet ALL the dogs that Uno represents:
Uno the Puppy Mill Dog
I'm the dog who's lived my whole life in a cage. I'm bred over and over again as long as I'm healthy, but I'm never taken to see a vet. I've never walked on grass or peed on a tree. I've never snuggled in bed with a person, learned how to give paw in exchange for a treat or had my ears scratched. If I'm lucky, when I can't be bred any longer, someone will rescue me.
Uno the Shelter Dog
I'm the dog at the overcrowded shelter. I've been here for awhile, living my life behind bars and sleeping on a cold, concrete floor. It's stressful here with so many dogs barking and whining all the time. There are nice people who feed me, clean my kennel area and sometimes even walk me, but there are too many of us and not enough of them. Some dogs leave their kennels and don't come back. I hear the ones that go out the front door are going to homes, but the ones who go to the back…well, I don't want to think about. I hope to leave someday…by the front door.
Uno the Stray Dog
I'm the stray dog roaming the streets. I never know what's around the next corner, where I'm going to get my next meal, or if those people walking toward me want to help me or hurt me. Some days, living outside is OK, but when it's cold and raining – or worse, snowing – I sure wish someone would take me under their roof to stay warm and dry.
Uno the Dumped Dog
I'm the dog whose family is suddenly getting rid of me. They don't have time for me, they're having kids, they're moving and can't take me along…there's never any shortage of excuses. Sometimes they ask around and try to find someone they know to take me. Sometimes they dump me at the shelter, or worse, they just leave me behind to fend for myself. I wish I knew what I did wrong so I could find my way back to a home where I give kisses and get treats.
Every day, CPAA and its member rescues are met with more requests for help for the puppy mill dog, the shelter dog, the stray dog and the dumped dog. They do a really good job of finding forever homes for all of us, but it takes time, it takes money and it takes space!
Use your "power of one" to help just one dog…it'll make all the difference in the world to that one dog!
